EST SEATTLE (CNN) -- Warming temperatures are adding to the weather mess in the Pacific Northwest, where back-to-back winter storms paralyzed much of the region and left thousands without electricit Storm number two left more than a foot of snow in some areas by Sunday, blocking major highways, collapsing roofs, and forcing the closing of Seattle's Space Needle tourist attraction. But as temperatures rose, so did new problems. In Seattle, with readings in the high 40s, falling snow turned to rain, while the white stuff on streets and rooftops turned to sludge. More rain was forecast on Monday, increasing the flood danger in Oregon and Washington. "If possible, stay home," said Seattle police spokeswoman Christie-Lynn Bonner. Disaster areas, flood warnings Washington Gov. Mike Lowry has declared disaster areas in 12 counties, and has activated the National Guard. At least two deaths in Washington have been attributed to the weather. And one man in Oregon is believed to have drowned in a flooded, icy creek while using an excavator to remove ice from the base of 620-foot Multnomah Falls in the Columbia River Gorge.
