About the Golden Age of Trucking Museum
The Golden Age of Trucking Museum Featured Truck Mack 1920 3 Ѕ ton Model AC Mack The truck was ordered new in 1920 by the Keene, NH Fire Department and was in service until 1946 The truck was sold to the Bellows Falls VT Fire Department in 1946 and was in service there until 1965. Lt. Mark Howard of the Keene NH Fire Department told me that in 1965 the truck went to a ski area in Vermont where it was used as some type of shuttle for skiers at a ski ar A retired Keene fireman later spotted the truck in a field in Warren VT in the late 1970’s In 1981, Paul Vouna found the truck in that field. He took the truck to Worcester, Ma, cut the truck in half, scrapped the rear section, and restored the front section. In 1983, he placed it at the head of the bar in the “Firehouse Café”. The truck remained there for 17 years until the Café closed on December 31, 2000. I purchased the truck at an auction held at the café on January 11, 2001 The cab and chassis was completed and first shown on August 3 rd, 2002 at the Green Mountain Chapter truck show in Bellows Falls, VT. The dump body was built from specifications received the Mack Truck Historical Museum and actual measurements were obtained from a 1923 AC Mack owned by Stephen Puffer. The dump truck was completed and first shown on May 22 nd, 2004 at the Connecticut Yankees Chapter truck show in Bethlehem, CT. I have recreated 1920, 3 ½ ton AC Mack dump truck.
