If installation of the new stud is difficult, you can also draw the stud into position using the lug nut and a stack of washers. Align the serrations of the new stud in the rotor, then place a short stack of washers over the stud. Thread the lug nut onto the stud (with the flat side facing the washers) until the stud threads pass through the nut (you may have to remove some of the washers, but make sure enough threads are through to prevent stripping the new stud). Tighten the lug nut against the washers and the threads will pull the stud into position in the hub.
